New Home Energy Monitoring Tool Launched By Microsoft

With his acute focus on climate change and initiatives on improving energy efficiency, President Barack Obama encouraged his fellow citizens by emphasising on making light bulbs as well as other lighting equipment to absorb less energy. And he suggested that “I know light bulbs may not seem sexy, but this simple action holds enormous promise because 7 percent of all the energy consumed in America is used to light our homes and businesses”. He also had shown estimation on how this activity can increase energy efficiency by saving around $4 billion in a year between the period of 2012 and 2042 and conserving energy for every household for about 10 months.

According to Microsoft, this dual energy tracking system is designed with high level analytics that is licensed by the US Department of Energy and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The Hohm has been proven to give suggestions on conserving energy on the basis of feedback and home energy data taken from users. These suggestions may range from providing caulking to windows to seal air leakage, installation of programmable thermostat and many useful energy conserving recommendations and tips in context to contemporary needs for energy saving and supply.
